The International School Almere celebrated its first ever International Food Fair 2016 on 15th April. “Share your culture” was the theme of the event, which showcased the cultural diversity of the school where 500 visitors enjoyed the culinary delicacies with song and dance.
There were 11 regional stands exhibiting the 49 different countries that the school is comprised of, all being represented by the students, teachers, and parents. These included countries from Ethiopia to India, Japan to Argentina and Nepal to Australia. Of course the Netherlands was not left behind.
There was a magical buzz with parents bringing in their cultural delicacies to share and students and teachers presenting their countries in song and dance. The audience embraced the performances of the students with delight and appreciation. “Wow, I am so glad to be part of this community at the International School Almere”, “When are we going to have the next one”; these were some of the quotes from the visitors. This was the highlight of the year! The event truly shows that together with parents, students and teachers the International School Almere truly celebrates diversity in an authentic and personal manner. The international food fair will be an annual event from now on.
