Areas of Interaction

Areas of Interaction (AoIs) are themes that all MYP schools across the globe use to put the content of what they teach into a real-world context. It helps teachers and students to answer the question, “Why are we learning this?” There are five AoIs:
Community and Service
Environments
Human Ingenuity
Health and Social Education
Approaches to Learning
Within each Area of Interaction teachers make students AWARE of topic, REFLECT on that topic, and take ACTION regarding that topic. This process is done within the normal school curriculum and helps to show the students real world applications of the content they learn in each one of their classes.
During each year in school we further develop the students understanding of the Areas of Interaction until their understanding culminates in the Personal Project during MYP 5.
Please, feel free to take a look at the “learning expectations” that we have developed for the Areas of Interaction for our students in each year at our school.
